Step 2: Submit the Application

File the application with the Copyright Office using the prescribed form (Form IV) along with:

• A copy of the work
• Power of Attorney (if filing through an agent)
• Application fee (varies by work type)

Step 3: Diary Number & Waiting Period

Upon submission, the Copyright Office issues a Diary Number. A waiting period of 30 days is given for any objections from the public.

Step 4: Examination by the Registrar

If no objections are received (or after objections are resolved), the Registrar examines the application for:

• Completeness of documents
• Originality of the work
• Validity of claims

Step 5: Registration & Certificate Issuance

Once approved, the Copyright Office enters the work in the Register of Copyrights and issues a Copyright Registration Certificate to the applicant.

This certificate is valid for the life of the author plus 60 years (depending on the work type).
